A FEW WORDS ABOUT MATT'S MUSIC FOR KIDS...

The Matt's Music for KIDS programs were founded in June 2007 by Western New York singer/songwriter, Buffalo Music Award nominee, and ASCAPlus Award Winner Matt Surowiec. Coincidentally, that same month Matt found out he was going to be a Daddy!

A devoted husband and father, Matt has musical roots based in traditional folk (Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, Peter Paul & Mary), classic pop (The Beatles, The Monkees), bubblegum (Fat Albert & The Cosby Kids, Josie and the Pussycats), and alternative rock (REM, Barenaked Ladies) and performance roots based on favorite childhood television shows (Mr. Dressup, Sesame Street, ZOOM, Andy Kaufman). Matt has designed a fun and energetic series designed to educate and entertain!

Matt Surowiec first received attention in the family and children's entertainment arena for his Reading Rainbow inspired performances of "Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas", complete with narration from the Russell and Lillian Hoban book and music by Grammy and Academy Award winner Paul Williams from the Jim Henson production. In July 2007, his record label Tricentennial Music released the first ever Emmet Otter tribute CD to the delight of Muppet fans everywhere. In its first few months, the independent release registered over 1000 downloads at iTunes.

In February 2008 Matt released his first CD of original children's music, "On the MOON", which included the outer space flavored title track; "Yes I Can", "Yellows", and "Rock and Roll Star", rocking songs of encouragement; "Goin Fishin", "Pickle in Your Ear", "Polka Dot Sock" and "I Like Cereal", zany songs of nonsense; "Friends Can Say Hello" and "New Kid in Town", positive songs about meeting new people; and "Tea With Alice", an imaginative retelling of Alice in Wonderland. The CD also features new takes on old standards - "R.I.N.G.O." (to the tune of "B.I.N.G.O.") and "There's A Hole in the Bucket" (a duet between Matt and Granny Smith, a character from Matt's shows).

Immediate and future plans for Matt include the production of a children's TV show called "Pinwheel Parade", the recording and release of "Sing Along with Matt" (a live CD from Matt's 2008 Summer Tour), and playing fun, interactive music for kids and families anywhere he can!

Matt plays Original Eden Kazoo Factory kazoos exclusively!

Matt is a card carrying member of ASCAP and supports the Nobel Peace Prize for Pete Seeger movement.
